OUR PROJECTS

SCHOLARSHIPS

Our very first project as the Kevin Garcia Foundation was to establish a scholarship program for Kevin's graduating class of 2009 at Charles Flanagan High School.  Throughout the years, we have expanded our  scholarship program to include Seniors from various high schools throughout Dade & Broward counties. To date we  have given over $60,000 to college bound Seniors of Charles Flanagan, Western, Monsignor Edward Pace, Pembroke Pines Charter and Archbishop Edward McCarthy High Schools.  Our ability to continue providing these awards relies completely on our charitable supporters.

EASTER ​

Thanks to our generous volunteers & corporate and individual sponsors, we started our Annual Easter Luncheon at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in 2013.  The patients and families are treated to a special luncheon on Easter Sunday donated with much love from the Kevin Garcia Foundation supporters.  Volunteers serve the patients and their families from an array of delicious dishes prepared by local restaurants, as well as, home cooked dishes and dessert station. The children take pictures with the Easter Bunny and have a  Build Your Own Easter Basket station to fill with their choice of assorted treats & toys.

THANKSGIVING 

In 2013, we were contacted by the social worker for Centro Mater Child Care asking for our help with the most needy families at their  Center for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.  We immediately reached out to our supporters and were able to provide the families with prepared meals, as well as,  stock their home pantries with non perishables for the long weekend. With the help of our friends from Change Is Ours, we have since expanded our reach to provide pantry items for Centro Mater & Ronald McDonald House in Miami.

TOY DRIVE 

The idea to have our annual toy drive began when Kevin passed December, 2009.  The astounding response to our request for toys (in lieu of flowers) at his funeral, inspired the beginning of our foundation.  Since the initial toy drive at Kevin's  funeral, we have filled truckloads of toys each year; delivering holiday gifts to the Pediatric Palliative Care at Joe DiMaggio Childrens Hospital, then a visit from Santa on Christmas Day for the patients of Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, as well as other holiday events for the children of, Ronald McDonald House, and Centro Mater Child Care.

KEVIN'S LITTLE LEGENDS 

Our work with the International Kids Fund (IKF) of Jackson Memorial Foundation and the Ronald McDonald House in Miami introduced us to the littlest of warriors battling with life threatening, rare or serious illnesses.  In 2011 we had the opportunity to help a brave and legendary 3 year old named   Joseth Celedon, receive treatment for his leukemia.  After Joseth, we have sponsored several legendary children, helping them with life changing surgeries. On 2014 the Jackson Memorial Foundation awarded the Kevin Garcia Foundation the Golden Angel Award for our contributions and sponsorship.

PARTNERS IN  OUR COMMUNITY 

We have helped our community throughout the years in coordination with various clubs and non profits to provide help to the neediest children in our community.   

  • The KG4 Club of Pembroke Pines Charter High School, has helped collect school supplies for low income family students of Centro Mater Child Care,  non perishables & toiletries for victims of Hurricane Maria and Irma, as well as donations for Feeding South Florida.  

  • Depend On A Friend introduced us to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital and we have partnered with them since 2009 delivering toys for the patients of Joe DiMaggio.  

  • Change Is Ours has partnered with us since 2014 to help our growing list of needy families during the Thanksgiving holiday season.
